The eight suspended members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have denied reports that they have returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying their recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu focused on their suspension and outstanding entitlements.
The lawmakers’ spokesman, Ibrahim Tukur Bakura, who represents Bakura Constituency, told newsmen in an interview that they had neither defected to the APC nor promised to rejoin the party.
Bakura said their visit to the Presidential Villa was to discuss the circumstances surrounding their suspension, their unpaid entitlements and possible ways to resolve the issues.
He described reports by some online media outlets claiming that the lawmakers had returned to the APC as false and misleading.

“Neither have we decamped to the APC nor promised to return to the APC. What took us to the Villa was to discuss the problem of why we were suspended, our pending entitlements and how to resolve it,” he said.
Bakura added that any decision to formally return to the APC would be announced publicly and he would personally brief the media if such a decision was made.
“If we decide to return to the APC officially, I will personally call journalists and other important media houses and brief them,” he said.
New Telegraph recalls that the eight lawmakers resigned from the APC before meeting President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Monday.
They were led to the Villa by the Minister of State for Defence and former Zamfara State Governor, Dr Bello Matawalle.
